2023 Ford Maverick

The entry-level Maverick XL comes with 17-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, rear bed cargo lighting, and remote keyless entry. A step up to the XLT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a power tailgate lock, storage cubbies in the bed, and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors. The top-level Lariat adds 18-inch alloy wheels, body-colored door handles, LED signature lighting, and the option for heated side mirrors. All Mavericks have a versatile FLEXBED system with segmented storage spaces, tailgate tie-downs, and an available 120-volt outlet.

If you want to take the Maverick over rough terrain, the FX4 Off-Road Package adds all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and skid plates. The new Tremor has a 1-inch lift, a reshaped front bumper, and underbody protection.

The Maverick comes standard with a hybrid setup that consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors. These combine to generate 191 horsepower, and it comes with front-wheel drive. An optional 2-liter turbo gas engine is available. It puts out 250 horsepower and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. You can get the gas engine with front- or all-wheel drive.

The hybrid powertrain is quick and responsive when you hit the accelerator. Both setups have lots of power, and the gas engine will rocket the Maverick to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. When equipped, the hybrid Maverick can tow up to 2,000 pounds, and with the gas engine, it can pull up to 4,000.

All the Mavericks have four doors and a crew cab with two rows of roomy seats. The XL has cloth upholstery and a rear bench seat with a flip-up seat cushion that has storage bins underneath. The XLT adds the option for a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, and the Lariat has dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-sliding rear window, and additional adjustments for the power driver's seat.

Technology features include an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo system, and USB ports in the front row. Bumping up to the Lariat gets you two USB ports in the rear seat, and if you add the Luxury Package, it comes with the SYNC 3 infotainment system, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, and wireless charging.

Every 2023 Maverick has a full suite of safety systems. It includes forward collision warning, automatic braking, trailer sway control, and automatic high-beam headlights. The Lariat with the Luxury Package adds adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist. The optional Ford Co-Pilot 360 Package is available for most Maverick trims. It comes with a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping assist system.
