Jacksonville, AR is packed full of things to do and sights to see, but many tourists often find themselves at a loss for what to do while in town. Well, to help you all out, here is our definitive list of the best local attractions in and around town.

Splash Zone Water Park

Fun for kids and adults alike, water parks always make for a great day out, and Splash Zone is no exception. Located close to the center of town, Splash Zone boasts dump buckets, diving boards, water slides, and splash areas, along with some shallow pools for the younger children.

The summers in Arkansas are notoriously hot and humid, so Splash Zone is something of a necessity for the locals so they can cool off in the mid-summer heat. It’s reasonably priced, so make sure you try it while you’re in the area.


Jacksonville Museum of Military History

As a major battleground of the American civil war, Arkansas has a lot of military history which you can delve into with a trip to this museum. Even after the civil war, the state has been used rigorously to make large munitions, many of which are also showcased here. While the Civil War-era weapons remain ever-popular, the biggest attraction here is the exhibit that features Titan II nuclear missiles.


Reed’s Bridge Battlefield Heritage Park

The city of Little Rock, located just down the road from Jacksonville, was a heavily contested city during the civil war. The Confederates has taken it as a base and the Union tried hard to displace them and take the town, resulting in 3 distinct battles that took place in fields around the area.

Easily located on Arkansas Route 161, the fields of Reed’s Bridge Battlefield Heritage Park contain exhibits and memorials in some of the more significant areas, along with some cannons and fortifications that give visitors an insight into how the battle may have looked and how life was for the soldiers.


Paradise Park

Although there isn’t loads to do here, the name is spot on in that it’s a little piece of paradise. Great for a picnic or a place to relax with a book, Paradise Park, with its lake and meadows, is peaceful and serene and even features a waterfall by the edge of it.


Holland Bottoms Wildlife Area

A great spot for hunting and fishing, Holland Bottoms stretches over thousands of acres of parkland and includes stretches of hardwood forests filled with squirrels and deer, interspersed with many huge lakes full of bass. The site is regularly patrolled, so if you do plan to go hunting or fishing here, please make sure you contact them first to find out their regulations and pay any fees.
