Jacksonville, Arkansas, and the surrounding area has a multitude of fun activities that the whole family can enjoy. Here are six suggestions for your next family outing. 

  1. Splash Zone Water Park

Splash Zone Water Park is a great place to spend a hot summer day with your family. Admission is only $5 per person, with children under the age of 2 getting in for free. Here you can stay cool in one of the three swimming pools, one of which is only two and a half feet deep, perfect for water play with small children. The park also has water slides, a water tunnel, and a watery play area for the kids.

  1. Regal McCain Mall Stadium

Less than 15 minutes away from Jacksonville, Regal McCain Mall Stadium is a movie theater complex in North Little Rock where you and your family can spend the afternoon. Here, you can see the latest films and enjoy popcorn and refreshments as you sit comfortably in the theater’s stadium-style seats. After the movie ends, you and your family can walk around and shop at McCain Mall.

  1. T.R. Pugh Memorial Park

T.R. Pugh Memorial Park is also located in North Little Rock Arkansas. Here, you and your family can go for a walk or bike ride as you venture through the park. You can also check out the Old Mill site, which is a reconstruction of the original water-powered mill from the 1880s. If the Old Mill looks familiar, that’s because it is featured in the opening scene of Gone With The Wind!

  1. Museum of Military History

The Museum of Military History is a great attraction for history buffs or those with an interest in the history of the Civil War in the Jacksonville area. Here you can view military artifacts and replicas and learn more about the Battle of Reed’s Bridge during the Civil War. Admission is $3, but only $2 for the elderly and military family members and $1 for students.

  1. Little Rock Zoo

At Little Rock Zoo, you and your family can enjoy a fun-filled day observing wildlife. Located just 20 minutes from Jacksonville, this attraction is open year-round. Here you and your family can feed fish, ride a train through the zoo, and see a variety of animals in exhibits like Great Apes, Big Cats, Asian Elephants, Overlook Trail, and Heritage Farm. You can rest up for more fun by getting lunch at Cafe America, Mosi’s Snack Shack, or Lorikeet Landing Snack Shack.

  1. Jeepney Shave Ice and More

Jeepney Shave Ice and More located on North First Street in Jacksonville has a variety of flavored ice and other treats to satisfy your sweet tooth. Shaved ice lemon-lime, passion fruit, tropical punch, strawberry cheesecake, coffee, margarita, and more. Sizes range from kiddie to large and you can pick up to three flavors. Jeepney also has ice cream sundaes, hot dogs, and refreshments for purchase.
