6 Key Features of the 2022 Ford Explorer

The 2022 Explorer has set a new standard in the world of midsize SUVs with its blend of luxury and high-performance features that drivers are raving about. If its spacious, plush cabin and terrain tackling off-road features don’t catch your attention, then its staggering engine performance and cutting-edge technology certainly will. While all of its characteristics are sure to impress, here are six key features found in the 2022 Ford Explorer that drivers are talking about.
1. Autonomous 4WD System
The available Intelligent 4WD feature, which works in tandem
with the Terrain Management System, is capable of detecting which tires may be
at risk of wheel spin and can apply traction to these tires automatically.
While you control which of the Terrain Management System’s seven modes you’re
in at any given time, the 4WD system is adapting itself to this while
monitoring the tires and remaining ready to adjust traction at the first sign
of slippery surfaces.
2. Auto High-Beam Headlamps
The vehicle’s distinctive LED lighting is complemented by
the fact that the headlamps have an automatic high-beam function. Instead of
having to worry about when to switch your high beams on and off during drives,
this feature can do that automatically. It uses radar-sensor technology to
detect changing lighting conditions, which includes illumination from both
streetlamps and the headlights of other vehicles.
3. An Infotainment Center
Functioning as the Explorer’s all-in-one command center for
all your infotainment needs, SYNC 3 pairs with an available 10.1-inch display
and offers both Android and iPhone connectivity. With this system, you can
toggle through song selections or SiriusXM channels using your voice, set up
personalized user profiles to save settings, view your GPS location on highly
detailed maps, and so much more.
4. Active Park Assist 2.0
Maneuvering a vehicle into tight spaces can be a hassle
sometimes, especially when it comes to parallel and perpendicular parking.
Thankfully, the Explorer offers an intuitive driver-assist feature known as
Active Park Assist 2.0, which can automatically park the vehicle for you once
you’ve approved a parking spot. If someone happens to park too close to you in
a parking lot, you can also use this feature to easily maneuver your way out.
5. A 400-Horsepower V6
This edition of the Explorer also has some truly incredible
engine options, including a hybrid V6. But the clear standout among the
vehicle’s three engines is the twin-turbo 3.0L EcoBoost, which churns out 400
horsepower and an inspiring 415 pound-feet of torque. Paired to an automatic
10-speed transmission, this engine comes standard on both the ST and King Ranch
models and is capable of towing up to 5,600 pounds when fully equipped.
6. Wireless Charging Pad
Have you ever been on a long trip and suddenly realized that you had forgotten to bring a charging cord for your smartphone? When you or your passengers need to charge your Android or iPhone devices, it’s a lot easier when you opt for the Explorer’s wireless charging pad. Best of all, you can still charge devices even when the vehicle’s turned off, so you won’t have to worry about wasting fuel.
Thanks to its sensational performance options, driver-assist technologies, and intuitive safety systems, the luxurious 2022 Explorer raises the standard of what we should expect from an SUV. Come see this impressive vehicle by stopping by our dealership today at Crain Ford Jacksonville.

are V6s with up to 450 horsepower offered at the top of the range, while the
sole V8 within the group, a 5.0-liter, pushes 400 horsepower.
One of the V6s, a 400-horsepower 3.5-liter, boasts a best-in-class tow rating,
as it’s able to pull up to 14,000 pounds. A best-in-class 3,325-pound payload
rating has also been awarded to this F-150, thanks to its V8. You also won’t be
hard-pressed to find a style that suits you, as this F-150 has eight
distinctive trim levels to choose from.
Comfortable and Work-Ready
When it comes to the vehicle’s cabin, many drivers are
surprised by how many comfort-focused features Ford was able to pack into it.
Its spacious interior has enough room to seat six in the larger cabs and offers
everything from full reclining front seats to an 18-speaker luxury audio
system.
The exterior of this pickup truck has been built for both accessibility and
productivity. Pairing together Pro Power Onboard, an available mobile
electricity generator, and the Tailgate Work Surface option, allows you to get
work done quickly. Climbing in or out of the vehicle has also been made simpler
with available step bars and running boards.
Tech for Fun and Connectivity
While the 2022 F-150 offers a wide range of impressive
technology features, there are some obvious standouts in the group. One of
these is the SYNC 4 feature, as it offers hands-free connectivity for syncing
up contacts from your smartphone or listening to music, along with your choice
of an 8-inch or 12-inch touchscreen.
Other highlights include the 4G LTE hotspot for connecting to a Wi-Fi connection,
the power-adjustable pedals with a memory function to remember your
preferences, and the vehicle’s very own mobile 7.2 kW mobile electrical
generator.
Responsive Safety Features
As for safety features, the AdvanceTrac’s Curve Control function can help to ensure that you’re going around sharp bends at a safe speed level. You can also enhance this protection by opting for the adaptive bending headlamps, which can improve the illumination of the road ahead of you while you’re making turns.
For greater vision when driving on dark roads or in poor weather conditions, the automatic high-beam headlights and available rain-sensing windshield wipers are both features worth having, while the Blind Spot Information System, with its trailer coverage function, can make lane changes safer.
The 2022 edition of the F-150 offers a unique combination of remarkable performance, astonishing towing strength, and a comfortable interior that makes every drive a pleasurable one. Visit us today at Crain Ford Jacksonville to take this iconic pickup out for a test drive.

When on the road at night, visibility is vital for your safety. All drivers need periodical headlight replacement when their bulbs begin to falter. Let’s take a look at four signs that you should visit your local Ford dealer for a set of new headlights.
Dimming Brightness
Headlight bulbs can lose a great deal of their original brightness before finally giving up the ghost. This is especially the case with high-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs and light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs. Both types have remarkably long lifespans but can also lose up to 70% of their brightness before the end. Needless to say, don’t wait for your bulbs to fail so far before having them replaced.
Which Bulb Do You Use?
There are three types of headlamp bulbs: HID, LED, and traditional halogen bulbs. HID and LED bulbs are brighter, longer-lasting, and more expensive as well. The only advantages halogen bulbs have are the lower price tag and the fact that they don’t lose any brightness before they run out of steam.
If you’re not sure which bulb type your Ford currently uses, you can look at the light and beam pattern they emit. To do so, face your car to a garage door and switch on the headlights. If you see warm yellow light, you have halogen bulbs, while white light means HID or LED bulbs. LED bulbs will instantly turn on at maximum brightness, while HID bulbs will flash for a few seconds and slowly build to maximum brightness.
Flickering Light
If the light ahead of your car begins flickering, it’s quite likely that a filament is loose in one of your bulbs. That bulb is on its very last legs and has become distracting to other drivers, so it needs to be replaced. There’s a chance that the flickering was created by a loose or faulty connection. You’ll know if that’s the case as soon as you put a new bulb in.
One Bulb Dies
If one bulb dies altogether, then your bulbs probably need replacing. It’s statistically unusual for both headlight bulbs to die at once. If that happens, the problem is probably with your battery, wiring, or something else in the charging system.
Do Headlight Replacement in Pairs
When one bulb fails, you should replace both headlights because a bulb’s rate of deterioration accelerates as it ages. This means if one bulb is dying, the other is usually close behind. It’s best to buy bulbs in pairs because otherwise, you might not be able to find a perfect match later on. In that case, you’ll have mismatched headlights, which look a little odd.
Enough Miles Pass Since You Bought Bulbs From Your Ford Dealer
It’s good to know the expected lifespan of your bulbs so you can anticipate the need for replacements. Halogen bulbs tend to last from 500 to 1,000 miles. HID bulbs can last anywhere from 2,000 to 8,000 miles, depending on the make. And super-durable LED bulbs can last for up to 30,000 miles.
If you’d like to have your headlights inspected by certified technicians, visit Crain Ford of Jacksonville. We’re a locally-trusted dealership dedicated to providing for all the vehicle purchasing and servicing needs of our customers with consistently excellent service.

Need a Car Safety Inspection?

Keeping up with your responsibilities as a vehicle owner is important to ensure that every drive you take is safe and secure. That’s what makes getting your regular safety inspection such an essential part of ownership. Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy from getting your inspection performed at your Ford dealer.
How Often Should You Get Your Vehicle Inspected?
Although Arkansas doesn’t require annual inspections of your
vehicle like some other states might, it is still an essential part of vehicle
ownership. Most experts recommend that you get your vehicle inspected once a
year. This will help to detect any potential problems early before they become
a serious concern, allowing you to safely operate your vehicle.
What Is Checked During an Inspection?
A comprehensive inspection of your vehicle’s safety will
include every aspect of the vehicle. Here are some of the things the mechanic
performing your inspection will look into.
Exterior
Some problems can be detected without even opening up your
vehicle for a look inside. We’ll check your windshield to ensure that there’s
no damage that might lead to further issues or reduced visibility. We’ll also
make sure that your windshield wipers are in good condition and replace them if
needed. If there is any damage to your mirrors, these can also be replaced to
give you visibility behind your vehicle.
Engine Check
Once the initial check is complete, we’ll also take a look
under the hood to diagnose any potential problems with your engine. We’ll take
a look to see if there’s any signs of damage present or any leaking fluids.
We’ll also make sure that your coolant is at optimal levels and that the
vehicle’s battery is in good health, among other diagnostic tests.
Brake System
Operating your vehicle safely requires quality brakes that
allow you to respond to obstacles crossing your path on the road. During an
inspection, we’ll make sure the brakes and brake pads are in good condition to
make sure your brakes are there when you need them. The status of the emergency
brake, or parking brake, will also be ascertained. You’ll enjoy much more
responsive brakes once all of the different parts are checked out.
Steering and Alignment
Being able to handle precisely is another crucial aspect of staying safe on the road, so our inspection will also make sure your steering and alignment are working correctly. Any worn-out parts of your vehicle’s steering system will be replaced to reduce the risk of a component failing while you’re trying to make a turn. We’ll also make sure the shock absorbers aren’t worn out so you get a smooth ride over any uneven terrain.
Need to have your vehicle inspected, or have any other maintenance concerns? Our service department has the tools and expertise needed to keep your vehicle running as well as new for many years to come. Come on down to Crain Ford of Jacksonville today, and we’ll take care of you!

Is It Time to Replace Your Ford Tires?

Every year, there are 15,000 road accidents in the US because of poorly-maintained tires. Even if your Ford tires are Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, or another top brand, all tires can eventually wear down to a dangerous degree. Because of this, it’s important to inspect your tires at least once a month. If you notice any of the following six factors, it might be time to visit your local Ford dealer for replacements.
Embedded Objects
If you notice any objects like rocks, screws, nails, or
random bits of metal embedded in the rubber of your tire, take them out. If the
object dug all the way into the liner beneath the rubber, you have a puncture
on your hands. These kinds of punctures are often hard to detect because the
object blocks the airflow, but the tire still needs to be replaced.
Air Loss
Many punctures are so small that they’re difficult to
notice. A tiny cut or crack might seem innocent enough, but if it goes deep
then air could be escaping. If you notice inexplicable air loss, never ignore
it. Even the smallest puncture can cause a blowout on the road.
Bulges of Bumps
Any kind of bulge or lump on the tread section of a tire
indicates tire separation. This is where the air has gotten in between the
layers of tire rubber. A tire with this problem is no longer structurally sound
and needs to be changed out.
Wide Cracks
As a tire ages, it’s ok if it naturally develops a few fine
cracks. But monitor these cracks to make sure they don’t begin to enlarge.
Wider cracks can begin to weaken the tire, especially if you’re able to see the
woven under-fabric through the crack.
More often than not, cracks develop in the voids between the treads, and also
along the walls of the tire. So pay particular attention to these places during
your monthly tire inspection.
Tread Separation
Once the rubber of a tire begins to degrade, you might
experience tread separation. This occurs at the joint where the treads meet the
sidewall. If a crack emerges there that’s large enough to squeeze a credit card
into, then the tire’s no longer safe to drive upon.
Worn Treads
Your tire treads need to be deep enough to handle the sudden
traction stress of accelerating or braking. If your tire treads ever shrink to
2/32 of an inch, then it’s no longer deep enough for safe driving. Most Ford
drivers sensibly replace their tires long before tread depth becomes this
shallow.
How a Ford Dealer Helps Your Tires Last Longer
Your local dealership can help you maintain your tires with a few key services. Firstly, they can rotate your tires, which allows all four tires to wear down more evenly. Tire rotation is recommended every 5,000 miles or so.
They can also balance each of your tires, which gets rid of any heavy spots, extending the tire’s lifespan. Lastly, they can check and correct your wheel alignment. Even minor wheel misalignment can lead to reduced handling, vibrations on the road, and uneven tire wear.
To have your tires examined or replaced by certified technicians, visit Crain Ford of Jacksonville. We’re a one-stop-shop for all Ford vehicle servicing, purchasing, and financing needs.

What Can You Learn From an Engine Diagnostic?

If you own a car, you know that it needs to be maintained to run well for a more extended period. What do you think is the most important thing about maintaining your vehicle? Oil changes and tire rotations can help keep your car running smoothly. However, another aspect of car care can help you save money in the long run: an engine diagnostic. Read on to discover what you’ll learn by getting this service at your Ford dealer in Jacksonville, AR.
Why a Warning Light Is On
It’s frightening to discover an illuminated light on the
dashboard when your vehicle is inoperable. Something minor can trigger an
illuminated light, but it could also indicate something significant. However,
if you want to find out what’s causing your car’s service light to come on,
bring it to your local service center for a diagnostic check. Your technician
will be able to tell a lot more about what’s going on with your automobile
after performing this test.
Brake Issues
If you’re concerned about brake issues, then you should
consider taking your car to a service center for testing. The technicians in
the service center will perform a diagnostic test so that they can pinpoint any
problems. They might also be able to tell if all of the braking components are
working safely and efficiently.
Electric Misfires
The engine will not run smoothly if it cannot communicate
effectively with other components and within itself. Electronic and
computerized systems may assist these basic operations to function seamlessly.
If any of these components go out, a diagnostic should provide an immediate
identification.
